Tensor Polarized γ-Deuteron Compton Scattering in Effective Field Theory
نویسنده
چکیده
The differential cross section for γ-deuteron Compton scattering from a tensor polarized deuteron is computed in an effective field theory. The first non-vanishing contributions to this differential cross section are the interference terms between the leading electric coupling diagrams and the subleading single potential pion exchange diagrams or the subleading magnetic moment coupling diagrams. At 90 photon scattering angle, only the pion term contributes at this order to the tensor polarized differential cross section. This provides a clean way to study the photon pion dynamics in the two nucleon sector. The effect is measurable for photon energies between 40 and 80 MeV provided the uncertainty in the measured cross sections are ∼ 7%. [email protected]

γ-Deuteron Compton Scattering in Effective Field Theory
The differential cross section for γ-deuteron Compton scattering is computed to next-to-leading order (NLO) in an effective field theory that describes nucleon-nucleon interactions below the pion production threshold. Contributions at NLO include the nucleon isoscalar electric polarizability from its 1/mπ behavior in the chiral limit. The parameter free prediction of the γdeuteron differential ...
متن کاملParity Violation in − → γ p Compton Scattering
Polarized beam −→γ p Compton scattering provides a theoretically clean way to extract the isovector parity violating pion-nucleon coupling constant h (1) πNN . This channel is more tractable experimentally than the recently proposed extraction of h (1) πNN from the Bedaque-Savage process — polarized target γ −→p compton scattering. The leading parity violating effect is calculated using Heavy B...

Information obtained from nucleus as a bound system of nucleons and from nucleon-nucleon scattering experiments is a strong tool for studying various aspects of nuclear forces. Deuteron-deuteron scattering as a four-nucleon system can provide useful information. So, scattering experiment of a polarized beam of deuteron with kinetic energy of65 MeV/nucleon from a liquid-deuterium target was done...
متن کاملThe Two-Nucleon Sector with Effective Field Theory
I present the results obtained for several observables in the two-nucleon sector using effective field theory with KSW power-counting and dimensional regularization. In addition to the phase shifts for nucleon-nucleon scattering, several deuteron observables are discussed, including electromagnetic form factors, polarizabilities, γd → γd Compton scattering, and np → dγ. A detailed comparison be...
متن کاملDeuteron Compton Scattering: A Random Walk
In this sketch, some recent developments in Compton scattering off the deuteron are reviewed. The strong energy-dependence of the scalar magnetic dipole polarisability βM1 turns out to be crucial to understand the data from Saskatoon at 94 MeV. Chiral Effective Field Theory is used to extract the static iso-scalar dipole polarisabilities as ᾱs = 12.6± 1.4stat ± 1.0wavefu and β̄ s = 2.3± 1.7stat ...
